International PTA Limited is proud to announce that three distinguished experts in artificial intelligence and robotics—Professor Soren Schwertfeger, Dr. Peihang Luo, and Dr. Ye Cui—have joined the instructional team for our new Level 7 Certificate in Embodied Artificial Intelligence Engineering.
This qualification, recognized by ATHE UK (Awards for Training and Higher Education) and regulated by Ofqual UK, is designed to equip learners with the cutting-edge theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to design, develop, and optimize intelligent systems that interact dynamically with the physical world.
The addition of Prof. Schwertfeger, Dr. Luo, and Dr. Cui significantly enhances the program's depth, bringing together unparalleled expertise in robotics, digital twin interaction, and explainable AI (XAI).
Meet Our New Experts:
Professor Soren Schwertfeger is a tenured Associate Professor at ShanghaiTech University, a renowned roboticist, and a Senior Member of the IEEE. With a PhD in Computer Science from Jacobs University Bremen, his research focuses on mobile robotics, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), and robot autonomy. Prof. Schwertfeger brings decades of experience from international projects (including EU FP-7 initiatives), leadership in RoboCup Rescue leagues, and a proven track record of guiding over 30 graduate students. His practical insights into real-world robotic perception and navigation will be invaluable for students aiming to deploy robust embodied AI systems.
Dr. Peihang Luo is a rising star at the University of Cambridge, where he is completing a PhD in Engineering focused on the "Roads Metaverse" and human interaction with infrastructure digital twins. His research, including projects like "ChatTwin" and "TailorAlert," explores the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) with digital twins to create intuitive, natural language interfaces for complex data. Dr. Luo's unique background, which includes a Master's from Cambridge and industry experience at BP and ANSYS, provides students with a critical understanding of how to bridge the gap between AI algorithms and their practical application in built environments and facility management.
Dr. Ye Cui is a specialist in explainable artificial intelligence (XAI), holding a PhD in Software Engineering and Intelligent Systems from the University of Alberta. Her research revolves around developing interpretable, rule-based, and granular computing models to make AI decisions transparent and trustworthy. As a former Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Associate at the University of Alberta, Dr. Cui has extensive experience in fuzzy systems and interpretable model design. His expertise is crucial for the program, ensuring that students not only build powerful embodied AI systems but also understand and can explain their reasoning—a critical component for ethical deployment and debugging.
Program Director's Statement:
"We are incredibly fortunate to have academics and researchers of this caliber join our program," said Cheng Zhang. "Embodied AI sits at the intersection of several complex fields. Soren's leadership in robotics, Peihang's innovative work on LLMs and digital twins, and Ye's foundational work in explainability create a perfect synergy. Together, they will provide our students with a comprehensive, industry-relevant education that covers the entire spectrum from core algorithm implementation to responsible real-world system deployment."
